Congrats to the Giants

Didn't really have much interest in the Super Bowl this year except for wanting the Cheatriots to lose and congrats goes out to the Giants for making sure that the Cheatriots Super Bowl losing streak kept going! Good job!

Looking forward to the changes that no doubt are on their way for the Rams, we are in desperate need of change and as fans we need to welcome any that comes our way. We have to remind ourselves that we can only go up from here and we need to believe that Fisher is the guy that will raise our team out of this quagmire it has find itself in for so many years now.

Welcome Aboard Fisher

Never, I mean NEVER in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would utter those words "Welcome aboard Fisher!" Oh my gosh, I must be living in an alternate world or something else. Oh, no, wait, now I remember, I've been living in a world that has been filled with one miserable year after another, over and over again like waking from a bad nightmare only to find out it's not really a nightmare but the real world of the Rams!

Desperate times makes for desperate measures and if that means cheering Stan Kroenke for hiring the one coach I surely disliked the most over the years then so be it! Because the truth of the matter, I don't think I could take another year with another rookie HC that couldn't box himself out of a paper bag let alone prepare a team to win a game.

So again, I say "Welcome aboard Fisher" and I pray that you can somehow work your magic and fix this dead franchise.

Season Mercifully Over

It's finally over, the misery in Missouri. The high hopes held by the fans and the team as well, were dashed, smashed, trampled upon and burned to the ground not too long after the season began. And now, it's finally mercifully over for all of us.

It was a season that more than likely will go down in Rams history as one of the worst EVER! At least in all my years of following the team, and that's many, many years, I don't think that I have ever been in such misery over a season. I have never begged for a season to end more than I did during this horrible season.

Let's hope that the fans and the team can recover from such a nightmare and be able to pick themselves up in 2012. It's not going to be easy to say the least but hopefully during the off season when fans have enough time to keep their minds off of all the pain and embarrassment caused from this season it will make it easier to put it all behind them and start fresh come next September. Only time will tell.

Well, don't know about anyone else, but I do know that Santa's not going to be leaving any wins under this Rams Christmas tree in a few days. I see in fact nothing but losing out for this season and just getting the heck out of dodge for the rest of the year and the first part of the 2012, if I were the Rams.

In fact that should be the top of their list is "Please get me somewhere safe and do it quick! So I can recoup from this horrendous nightmare of a football season!"

Let's Not Forget

Even though it's still football season and it's been a dreadful one to say the least when it comes to the Rams, we can't allow football to become so important that we forget the true meaning of this time of year.

Let's not forget that we need to open our hearts up to the true spirit of this season and care for one another, be kind to one another, even if that means trying to keep our feelings of dislike or discomfort about someone to ourselves. It's a time for love and compassion and for giving of yourself and not just in gifts. A smile, a hug, even a simple hello might be just the gift that person sitting next to you has needed all year long.

So let us put aside our feelings of disgust, disdain and disappointment with regards to our team and allow the true spirit of this time of year warm our hearts.

God Bless all of you and have a Joyous and Merry Christmas!

As If 26-0 and Going 2-10 Wasn't Bad Enough....

It is now been reported that A.J. Feeley broke his thumb on his throwing hand during the game on Sunday. This means he cannot play on Monday and the status of Bradford is very iffy because they are afraid of doing some really bad damage to him and ruining his future as a player.

I really didn't think it could get any worse, seriously, if I wasn't so shocked by all of this I'd be laughing because I would be thinking that only Hollywood could come up with such an unbelievable script!

If you look on their depth chart, right now, you will see there is no 3rd QB listed! Un-freakin believable! So now what?

Like the poster the Rams put up in their locker room? Hmmmmm, not helping much. But hey, at least they are losing together as a team.

Ready for the Season to Be Over?

There is no doubt in my mind that Sam Bradford is probably anxiously awaiting for the end of this season. This season is going to not only have him limping off in shambles but his mental health is damaged and scared as well.

There's no doubt that he will be going off home and away from this organization truly doubting himself and whether or not he has what it takes to be in the NFL. If not, he'll at least be wondering whether or not he's cut out to be a glutton for punishment and continue to play for this team!

What more needs to be said than what Brandon Lloyd says right here in the fourth quarter?

Think he's wishing he'd never come to St. Louis let alone heard of the place right now? This guy's got talent but what can you do with it when the team as a whole stoops to even lower levels to figure out how you can continue to lose games.

When it comes to football, right now during a time when we all are suppose to be counting our blessings, the Rams probably have nothing at all to be thankful for as a team. Truly a sad state they find themselves in.

We Win a Squeaker

Well, pretty much what killed the Rams last week in their loss against the Cardinals when the kicking game. The Browns are not a good team, just like the Rams and it was luck this time that was on our side and not the side of the enemy. Now that's something novel having the luck roll our way. Just goes to show you that we're not the only team out there that can't get any breaks.

Really not much to be proud of in this game since it was against an opponent for arguments sake are pretty much our mirror image in the AFC. Squeaking it out by one point is intense if it's between two powerhouse teams slugging it out, but when it's too bad teams, well quite frankly it's not all that impressive.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take the win, however, our offense isn't showing much power yet and we are now going into week 11.

Another One Down for the Count

Gone, just like that another receiver! Greg Salas, who was turning out to be a fine young rookie receiver is now gone with with a broken leg for the season! They just drop like flies on this team! Is there some sort of receiver curse on this team?! By the injuries that keep happening you might start thinking that! Now Clayton and Alexander must return and fill in all the gaping holes! But it almost seems senseless however when it would be coming back to a losing cause!

Again the Rams couldn't pull it off. If it's not one unit messing up it's another one. Can't seem to get all the different units to play together as a whole.

Was it the Uniforms?

Don't you just love the old uniforms? Brings back good memories and for a brief period of time on this past Sunday, we witnessed something remarkable. Not only were the Rams wearing the beloved colors that walked away with a Super Bowl win, but they won their first game of the season in those colors!

Was it the uniforms? Was it the Cardinals World Series win? Was it the unwillingness of SJ39 to sit down and watch the team implode one more time and lose? Whatever it was, where has this team been all year?!

Whatever the reason for such an impressive win, I still put a bid in for the Rams going back to their old colors. There's just something really special about them.

To make a nobody, what was his name again? The "up to this point unproductive, DeMarco Murray" as stated in the Post Dispatch, a super star running back. To think the Rams allowed him to surpass both Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith in yardage in one game. No doubt those players are feeling a little slighted about right now, that they weren't given the luxury of playing against the front seven of the Rams when they had to work their tails off to get every yard they both earned!

DeMarco Murray, who? Totally unheard of until October 23, 2011. Sure hope the Cowboys don't weigh his recent success as a milestone in his career, because I'm afraid if they do that, they'll be letting their team down. The Rams are not the measuring stick of a good running back. Enjoy it while you can Murray because you're not going to see another day like that one again, in a very long time, if ever!

Ground Hogs Day

I'm sure you've all seen Ground Hogs Day, the movie about how the guy kept waking up and repeating his day over and over and over again. Well, quite frankly, that is exactly what the game this week reminded me of.

Every time the Rams would get to 3rd and whatever, it was the same old thing over and over and over again. A penalty, or some other bonehead mistake would kill the drive, over and over and over again. Insane. What a futile season this is turning out to be.

No Photos

In case you are wondering why there have been no photos or slide shows so far on the season, it's because there just hasn't been anything worth including. After all who wants to be continually reminded of how lousy the team is by rubbing it in our faces with pictures to remind us each week. Maybe when they win a game we might put time and effort into making a slide show, but until that day, it's not going to happen.

There is Still Hope on the Horizon However....

The 0-6 St. Louis Rams aren’t going to sit on their hands the rest of the way.

But Rams’ faithful have to hope the club doesn’t allow offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to have too much input. Clearly, McDaniels gets his guy now, though. The NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that St. Louis is finalizing a trade with the Denver Broncos to bring Brandon Lloyd (notes) in. He flourished playing under McDaniels in Denver.

Details of the deal aren’t known yet, but the Broncos have been actively working to ship out Lloyd. The Denver Post reported last week he was on the trading block. The San Francisco 49ers reportedly showed interest.

Well we have the Golden Heart Player of the Week, we might as well have a Goat of the Week as well. This would be what you give out to the biggest idiot or fool on the team for the week and that dubious honor would be bestowed upon......drum roll please.......

Mike Sims-Walker

Who else? Oh sure there might be a couple more you might want to include, but his antics rockets him right to the top. A veteran who is guilty of more than half of the 8 dropped passes (he was thrown to 6 times and he dropped 5) simply can't escape being the Goat of the Week! Totally unacceptable and unforgivable play from a veteran wide receiver.

For a performance like that I'd have to bench him if I were the HC. There would be no discussion about it. You don't perform well on your own job you generally get fired so, benching someone is a slap on the hand if you ask me.

Comment about the Skins: I hope the two players that nearly tore of Austin Pettis' head are fined for those dirty hits! Both were totally uncalled for and were intentional. Unacceptable behavior for anyone.

Going Into the Bye

Just like the team, we are taking the week off. The team needs it, we need it, you need it! We will return after the Packers game.

No matter what the outcome, we as Rams fans need to stick together and as hard as it might be a lot of times we need to back our team. A lot easier for those who have followed them for so long that it's just second nature to continue. But all Rams fans young and old alike, keep it together and hang in there. I say that there is a God because on Sunday He showed me His mercy and had me not being able to watch the game on Sunday. Instead I was heading a fundraiser at my church for the people of Joplin, MO. All I can say is "Thank you God for keeping me away from such misery."

0-2 not exactly what I was expecting for the new season! I was really thinking we'd be 1-1. Really not all that much to ask, I did think 2-0 was far too much to ask however. Kind of scary seeing that they still seem to be a little bit allergic to the red zone again this year.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that the pre-season means absolutely nothing, but I don't think that you want to tell the Rams that right now. They have the taste of 4 wins in their mouth and I think they love the strong flavor it gives them to want more. I think this was a wonderful way for the team to enter into the regular season! Besides it's a great boost for them to know that this was also the first time they've gone 4-0 in the pre-season since 1979. And remember, that was the other year they went to the Super Bowl. Way to go Rams, looks like you're headed in the right direction!

3-0 Start

Pre-Season or not, a 3-0 start and against good teams is a great way to go into the 2011 season. It's got to be a confidence builder for the team as well as the fans. It's a nice feeling to see the starters show that the lockout didn't affect their ability to come out and look like they are ready to play some football!

Bradford has already shown that he's is not going to have any of those 2nd year issues a lot of young QB's get after a fine rookie performance. In fact it looks more like he's already been in the league for several years now, especially when it comes to his ability to be a leader. If any time got their wish fulfilled in the need of a team leader, it's the Rams with Sam Bradford.

Evolution

Wow! Are we witnessing the evolution of a new and improved offense here?! Sure it was only a pre-season game, but this team played with a purpose even though it was pre-season and they already seem to have a grasp for the new offense being implemented by McDaniels.

It looks like Jackson has finally got a couple of guys that are really going to be able to give him the rest he needs to stay fresh all season. Cadillac Williams appeared to be all polished and ready to go and Norwood as well looks like he fits in well with our new offense.

This looks like this could be a promising year!

Players vote to OK deal to end NFL lockout

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The NFL Players Association executive board and 32 team reps voted unanimously Monday to approve the terms of a deal with owners to the end the 4 1/2-month lockout.

Owners overwhelmingly approved a proposal last week, but some unresolved issues still needed to be reviewed to satisfy players; the owners do not need to vote again.

The sides worked through the weekend and wrapped up the details Monday morning on a final pact that is for 10 years, without an opt-out clause, a person familiar with the deal told the AP on condition of anonymity.

Owners decided in 2008 to opt out of the league's old labor contract, which expired March 11. That's when the owners locked out the players, creating the NFL's first work stoppage since 1987.

NFLPA head DeMaurice Smith stepped outside of the group's headquarters in Washington at about 2 p.m. to announce that players approved the pact.

"I know it has been a very long process since the day we stood here that night in March," Smith said. "But our guys stood together when nobody thought we would. And football is back because of it."

As he spoke, Smith was flanked by NFLPA president Kevin Mawae, Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Colts center Jeff Saturday and Ravens defensive back Domonique Foxworth, key members of the players' negotiating team. Brees is one of 10 plaintiffs in the antitrust lawsuit that players filed against the league.

Moments later, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell walked into the building, joined by owners Bob Kraft of the New England Patriots, John Mara of the New York Giants and Jerry Richardson of the Carolina Panthers.

"I believe it's important that we talk about the future of football as a partnership," Smith said.

A tentative timeline would allow NFL clubs to start signing 2011 draft picks and rookie free agents on Tuesday. Conversations with veteran free agents also could start Tuesday, and their signings could begin Friday.

Under the proposed schedule, training camps would open for 10 of the 32 teams on Wednesday, 10 more on Thursday, another 10 on Friday, and the last two teams on Sunday.

Both sides set up informational conference calls for Monday afternoon to go over the details of the agreement. The NFLPA told player agents they would be coached in particular on the guidelines and schedule for signing free agents and rookies; the NFL alerted general managers and coaches they would be briefed in separate calls.

The Waiting Game

Well here we all are still playing the waiting game of the NFL. With everything being on hold for so long it's amazing just how things stop and the well of news just dries up. This off season has been like a parched desert wasteland.

But hope is on the horizon they say, with the owners scheduled to meet on July 21st and the players should soon follow to write off on the 300 page agreement. However, that more than like won't be soon enough to salvage the Hall of Fame game for the Rams and Bears.

As the NFL Turns

It's June now and we still don't have a clue if the NFL season will ever start. The negotiations are as stale and day old bread and the players are so stubborn to think that this is going to get them anywhere. And then as you turn it over to the other side the owners are complete morons. How do they think by locking out the players that anything is going to be accomplished? Hello?! Oh you don't have to pay players during this lockout, oh big whoop. Idiots, you're going to be losing more in revenue with no fans to pad your fat wallets by going to the games! So what are they proving?

Another thing, have any of these owners ever played the game of football? They act like the players can just pick up from where they left off a year before and then just hopping right into the season with no practice at all. It's going to be one of the sloppiest seasons in NFL history. And let's not mention the injuries! Good job guys!

Well Here We Sit

Waiting to see if the NFL fiasco is ever going to end. It's a shame that it has basically all come down to greed. It's sad to think that there are just truly only a handful of players that are probably behind this head butting with the owners. And because of it, there could be a lot less disciplined football when it does start, with possibly very sloppy playing as well as the possibility of far more injuries than we've seen for years.

Not only that, there are a lot more people being affected by the lock out than the NFL cares to even consider. What about all the the little guys that work behind the scenes of the games that without them the game and events surrounding the games simply would not work as smoothly? What about the work and the money, which would be chump change to most NFL players, that help feed their families? As if the economy wasn't already bad enough for those average hard working folk that help keep the NFL running, whether the blockheads in the NFL want to admit or not, it's true. What about these people? Come on, what would the NFL do to them if all of them decided to walk out on every stadium that employed them? This means the guy that cleans the toilets to the one that sells the tickets. If every single one of these players walked off the job would the NFL treat them with bitterness and hardness? Of course they would. So why shouldn't we the fans and those that work at these teams stadiums not be upset with the NFL and their greed fueled lock out? It's time the NFL understands who really pays their paychecks!

Oh Well So Much For That

Guess it was never in the cards for Jones and the Rams. Oh well, seems all the "pros" seem to like the Rams picks and claim our number one guy Quinn is going to make the Rams defense devastating for opposing offenses. Hey, if that's the truth, I can live with that can't you? But as always, only time will tell.

As for the receivers and I looked at a couple of their videos and quite frankly I was quite impressed. Guess you can't always think that only players that go early are the best ones and there's nothing left. From what I saw from Pettis and Kendricks they look like extremely good weapons for Bradford. But again, only time will tell.

With the draft being on Thursday this week, the buzz of a season not going to happen has kind of subsided as fans get ready to see what their teams are going to do to fill the needs that they all have. And although the Rams don't have as many needs as they have in the past few drafts, there still are some needs that need to be seriously considered.

The biggest need of all of course is to find someone that is a true stud at receiver for Sam Bradford. If Bradford can make guys that have average talent look like they have some real talent we can only imagine just what a super stud receiver would look like catching passes from Bradford. And what would Bradford look like?

This is why that it is important for the Rams to not only think of the teams needs but of what's good for Bradford as well. If they want him to develop into the star he seems like he could be then this should be their number one priority.

I say, that Julio Jones is that option and they need to do something in this first round to make sure that they get him. They need to be willing to give up a little in order to get quality while at the same time filling a huge hole on the offense.

Nothing really good ever comes cheap and the Rams need to be able to accept that reality!

We were just informed that he has gone in for back surgery and will be in the hospital for at least a week and it may be a few months before he will be fully recovered.

I Question Some Decision Making

I only say that I question some decision making because of the most recent decision to let Atogwe go and then let the Redskins have him without even lifting a finger. Spags acts as if he's not needed or wanted in his system. It sure can't be because he's lacking in the 4 Pillars area because he was far from lacking there. I heard some say it was because they just didn't think all that highly of his skills at least not in their defensive scheme. Well, you tell me, any of the other safeties any better? In fact none of them could even hold a candle to Atogwe and yet they let the one reliable and great leader as well go as if he was one of the guys off the practice squad. Just another hole now that seriously needs to be filled. I think they'll be biting the bullet on this stupid decision for quite some time.

Atogwe Gone

It's a shame that someone who has been as faithful and as good as Atogwe has been that the Rams would take such a shot at simply letting him go. When we need to have good veterans on a young team it boggles the mind that they would let someone like Atogwe to just walk.

With just three days of being released he's already got teams that are interested in him so if this is some ploy by the Rams, this doesn't look like one that is going to work in their favor. This is one that looks like because they were thinking "cheap" that they're going to be on the losing end of this decision.

It would be understandable if you was a player that brought nothing to the table and was a problem child but Atogwe was nothing but a hard working and respectable player so that's why a decision like this is such a hard one to understand.

AP Got it Right

Well the fans over on nfl.com may not have gotten it right when it comes to the Offensive Rookie of the Year, but at least the Associated Press knows how to pick them.

Congrats to Sam for receiving the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. He more than did enough to receive this honor! Let's just hope that the owners and players don't bury their heads in the sand and make it hard for young players like Sam to continue their training and progress. He has a bright future ahead of him and he sure doesn't need a wrench thrown in it like the one that may be being aimed at it right now.

Possible New Option for Planet Rams

This year Planet Rams is considering opening up it's own private Fantasy Football League. There are no details at this time but it could be with one of the professional leagues out there or we might do it independently, we haven't decided yet. If we do it independently it would be done directly from the Planet Rams website. Either way, we are also thinking of adding a cash pool so that there can be a money award for the championship winner at the end of the season.

We will keep you posted on this idea throughout the off season.

This is Good

Pat Shurmur went to the Browns and we all wish him well and some of us are more than happy that he has found elsewhere to be. Even though we may not have had some of the best receivers to get the job done, Sam still deserved a little bit better playbook.

But thumbs up to Spags for staying away from the temptation of hiring someone with similar plays as Shurmur as well as a long time friend and going with Josh McDaniels. McDaniels will be opening up the offense more and Sam can only prosper from that. Of course they will have to get themselves a top notch receiver with their first draft pick of 2011, but we don't have to tell McDaniels that.

Crazy Weekend

I don't know about anyone else but did any of you really think the Seahags would beat the Saints? Talk about luck being on a teams side. Give me a break, we all know that when it comes down to it, they simply are not that good of a team and talent wise truly don't belong where they are right now.

Personally, I think their luck will run out once they have to go to Chicago and face that Bears defense. The Bears defense are simply monsters. We should feel lucky if our defense could play half as well as theirs.

As for the Rams, let's hope that they keep what happened in their last game burned into their brains all off season so that they can grow and learn from it in the 2011 season.

Stunned and Shocked

Utterly stunned and shocked with how the season ended. It would have been a lot easier to take a 7-9 record and actually be happy about it had it not been for this final game of the year.

Not only was it the worst played by the offense, the worst coached by all Rams coaches but it was THE worst officiated by any officiating crew in the NFL of the entire year!

Great turnaround from 1-15 to 7-9 in one year but what a dismal and horrifying way to end it. It stunk, it simply stunk.

How Quickly Things Change

Overlooked all season by National television, the Rams have skated along all season winning and losing but doing both with class. And now, that their last game is pretty much a playoff game, winner goes home. The National media wants a piece of us now!

It seems that the Rams 1:15pm game in Seattle will now become the Sunday Night Football game on NBC and will be televised for everyone to see. I suppose that's pretty cool, however; let's hope that this kind of last minute attention doesn't become a distraction for this young team. After all, winning is a relatively new thing and now the media wants to be part of it.

Penalties, Penalties, Penalties

Why so many penalties caught and called on the Rams? Man the Rams seemed to get hit with everything the refs could think of. Some of those penalties simply can't be blamed on rookie error this late in the season.

And it sure seemed while the refs were having a field day throwing out the yellow hankie on the Rams, they overlooked many that should have been thrown on the Chiefs. One in particular was disturbing, one that even Dan Fouts made a sarcastic comment on...that was the extremely hard and late hit on Bradford. Fouts commented and I quote "Guess they only throw the flag on that for the likes of the Peyton Mannings and Drew Breeses of the league."

There were others as well, several holding and pass interference that could have and should have been called. Sure this may not have changed the outcome but some of these missed calls did kill drives for the Rams, just as their own penalties killed drives.

Officiating needs to be looked into. There are far too many games with poor officiating.

Behavior of Saints Not Saintly

First things first, if any of us really thought we had a shot beating the Saints, then we were probably expecting way too much from this young developing team of ours.

On another note...I lost a little respect for the Saints during this game. I know that I can't possibly be the only one that noticed this team and many of its players really had a tendency to over celebrate not only scores but sacks and tackles. Last time I heard that kind of excessive celebration no matter where it's at on the field is suppose to be flagged.

It was disgusting in my opinion how often the Saints flaunted themselves even to the point of taunting as far as I'm concerned. But I guess SB Champs are allowed to do these kinds of things.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Ugly? To whom? So we didn't win with a huge score. Big deal. We did however win and there's nothing ugly about that. Not only did we win, we won on the road against a team that's had our number so to speak since what? 2006? Nothing ugly about that.

In reality, it was a thing of beauty because even with one of Bradford's less pretty games, he led the team to a must win victory! Not only that the players continue to show just how gritty of a team they are. Three players although injured during the game, toughed it out and returned to end the game. Nothing ugly about that!

It was a thing of beauty to see just how far this young team has come!

We Learned a Few Things

I think there are a few things that we learned about our team in this game.

1. Bradford gets better with each game.
2. Bradford can make the big plays even without a big name receiver.
3. The Rams can score more than 30 points in a game!
4. They can win on the road, even if it was ugly.
5. They still have not found that true killer instinct.
6. Pat Shurmur gets far too conservative once we have the lead. His conservativeness nearly lost us the game.
7. We're in first place, did you hear that? 1st place. Ain't that something?

The first three quarters were great! Something, however; must be done with regard to the 4th quarters this team has been playing.

Too Hopeful

Looks like a lot of us got a little too hopeful for the season with all the changes that were made. After Sunday's game, we were made well aware of all of the glaring holes this young rebuilding team still has. The biggest of course would be the fact we simply do not have the power at WR position to stretch the field. We do not have a single player that can allow Bradford to truly shine.

Road Woes Continue

Ouch! Still can't seem to get a win on the road. Could have been sitting pretty had we just pulled off the win in OT. Would have dashed all the hopes of the Whiners post season aspirations and we could have remained in a tie for first.

This team must learn to win on the road! The game planning needs to change drastically in order to help Bradford execute a knock out blow in enemy territory. They must become more creative with what they have to work with or we could end in the basement after such a promising start to the second year of rebuilding!

All Glory to God

Leave it to Bruce, the eternal man of class and man of God to open his speech with "All glory to God!" Number 80 will always have a place in my heart and the hearts of Rams fans forever. The complete player and the perfect example of what each NFL player should be all about on and off the field!

The Rams were obviously inspired once again by the great #80 and handed not only the fans another home win but honored Bruce with a hard fought and statement game. The Rams proved that they are team that will not cower in the corner after defeat and in the face of continued adversity.

I'm Sick

Seriously, I have been that is why the newsletter is later than usual. But though I'd try and get this thing out before the next game rolls around. I'm also sick because of the fact that we can't seem to play a game past the first half, especially the offense even with Sam Bradford. It can't be just the players faults, I find that hard to believe. Something, everything is not working or clicking in the 2nd halves of most games between the players and coaching. They need to figure this one out and soon because it is not helping the improvement of this team. It makes you sick to see generally a strong start and every week and even during the wins, watch the team become anemic during the rest of the game. This is a real issue and it is destroying the teams chances of winning many more games for the season. We may be stuck at 3 if this keeps up.

Talk about some hard hitting, hard nosed defense! Seven sacks! Awesome! They totally dominated the #1 ranked offense in the NFL in the first half. Although they bent some in the second half they were still able to hold them off long enough for the Rams offense to chew up the time with the Jackson running game.

Hats off to the defense and the entire team for making a statement this week! They did not crumble under the embarrassing jaws of defeat from last week and proved that they could come back and land on their feet this week. Way to go Rams!

Bad Luck Just Keeps Coming

Mark Clayton gone for the season. Unbelievable! I hope the guy who hit him and was looking to hurt someone is proud of himself! Cause he did a great job!

As if being totally humiliated in the game wasn't bad enough of a punishment for some unknown crime our team has committed, we had to lose Sam's go to guy. Just goes to show you that no matter what the Rams try to do they seem to be a doomed organization with a continual black cloud hanging over them. I guess this is what we all get for counting our chickens before they hatched and thinking there was light at the end of the tunnel.

So much for being optimistic.

And take a major bow! Each week we have seen gradual progress in this unit and this week we experienced an immense growth spurt in maturity! At this rate, it is foreseeable that this unit could find themselves in the top ten before the end of the season!

Lauranitus for one is of the key leaders in this new revived group. Opposing teams are going to have to start showing this unit some respect because they no longer are going to allow anyone to push them around any longer.

A Very Good Win

This was an extremely big win in many different ways. One of the most important things is that they proved that they could beat a team with a top notch QB and RB with McNabb and Portis. This win also proved that they could win a game without Jackson in the lineup which means that they were able to put the entire pressure on the shoulders of our rookie Bradford. It proved that Bradford will not crumble under that pressure in fact it looked as if he flourished under the pressure. Without Jackson it forced the play calling to be more creative and less predictable. This could be the most important thing that came out of this game. They need to depend less upon Jackson and more upon being creative and giving the entire reigns to Sam Bradford!

The team is going in the right direction.

Finding Ways to Lose Continues

Two weeks in a row now the Rams should have won, it wouldn't have been difficult, but instead the continuation of the 2009 nightmare seems to continue to follow them onto the field each week. The continued woes and always finding a way to lose.

If it's not the players making mistakes that cost wins it's the coaches not being able to have the guts to throw out some gutsy plays or their inability to find ways to help their team adjust throughout the game when the opposition mixes things up.

Things are suppose to get better week to week not revert.

We Lost But.....

Yes, we lost but something felt different within this loss. It just didn't feel the same as those 15 losses last year. Last year more often than not the team just looked pathetic and it was embarrassing. But the loss of Sunday took different form. It came from a team that actually looked like they might know what they are doing. They looked like a team that actually looked like they were trying.

The game was actually exciting and definitely winnable. Unlike last year no matter what, you just knew they weren't going to win. But it had to come down to the last five seconds of the game before we got the answer in this game.

Sam Bradford is the real deal and he will only get better with each game and he has the full support of his team. The team has a new attitude and appears that they will not let the other teams bully them or push them around, they're pushing back. Even in this loss there is a sense of hope and a possible bright future on the horizon.

I Think We're Ready

Sam Bradford has shown us what it may be like to have another thoroughbred on the team. It has been a very long time since we have seen anyone as good as Kurt Warner was. True Sam can not be compared to Warner, at least not yet. However; there is no doubt that we are headed for good times with Sam in control.

It should be even more exciting to see what will happen when Jackson is added to the game. I don't know about the rest of you, but; I'm finally excited about Rams football!

Bradford Appears to be Ready

Bradford went out onto the field sooner than he anticipated after the Patriots started the game off with a 97 yard return for a touchdown. That was the moment most Rams fans probably thought the game was over. But Sam Bradford, would have none of that attitude, in fact he embraced the fact that it happened because it meant he got to go out onto the field sooner. And he likes that. Sam is definitely not a bench warmer and showed in his first start that he could take command of the game and not let anything fluster him.

It was great to hear announcers who were "paid talking heads" for the Pats totally amazed with the play of Bradford. Even at one point one announcer admitting that he was far better than he thought the kid was. Bradford impressed, even the players on the Pats who probably at first thought they were going to have their way with the rookie. But Sam had other plans.

Offensive Line Up to Their Old Tricks

After the coaches look at the films, it is going to become quite clear to them that they do not have the protection they need for their $78 million investment. There is going to have to be some immediate improvement, especially with Jason Smith. They cannot afford to allow this line to continue to play sub par. It is not something that can gradually be improved upon, it something that needs to be improved upon now and not in the future. Sam may have more poise on the field than the average guy but how long will that last if he is left out in the cold by his offensive line?

Bradford is the real deal now let's get the offensive line to protect this pot of gold!

On time and ready for work. Demoff was able to get past the typical Tom Condon games and get the face of the franchise in camp where he was suppose to be! It is a good thing not just for the team but for Sam as well. He's got a lot of work a head of him and there is no time like to present to get working on it! Condon Needs to Get Down to Business and Avoid "Hold Out"

The long-awaited contract talks between the Rams and rookie quarterback Sam Bradford will likely get under way next week.

Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff, who will return from a brief vacation early next week, plans to get together with Bradford's agent, the Clayton-based Tom Condon.

Bradford won't be directly involved with the negotiations. "That's why I hired an agent," he told reporters in Oklahoma this week. "I don't want to deal with any of that stuff. That stuff's all on (Condon). I've done my part to get myself here. Now, it's his job to get me in camp."

Bradford, the No. 1 overall choice in the 2010 draft, is in position for a huge contract. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, chosen first overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009, signed a six-year deal worth $72 million, with $41.75 million guaranteed.

Bradford will probably command between $45 million to $50 million in guaranteed dollars.

I don't like the idea that he is letting Condon control everything about this. I guess the kid has not done his homework with regards to Condon's reputation. This bothers me greatly.

It's Getting Close

Before we know it, training camp will be here and hopefully the Rams will have a group of guys that will be able to become the team we've been waiting for, for quite some time now! Well the man with the most offsides penalties in the NFL has ridden out of town and into Dallas. I can understand the move on the organizations part after all how long did Barron think we had to wait before he could figure it out that you stand still until the ball is released?!

Merlin Olsen will be missed by all whom he touched. He was a great man that never forgot who he was and knew his place in the world.

He left behind a legacy of caring, giving and professionalism that probably not many can imitate.

Death of Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen saddens 'Fearsome' mate

When he received word Thursday morning that close friend and former teammate Merlin Olsen had succumbed to cancer, Rosey Grier cried. He had planned to visit Olsen at a Los Angeles area hospital Wednesday but was told by Olsen's brother, Phil, that it probably would be better if he waited until Friday.

"So Phil put the phone to his ear and we were able to talk," Grier said by telephone Thursday. "He sounded sick but the thing was, he still sounded like Merlin."

Grier paused to collect himself before continuing.

"I loved that man," he said. "I really loved him."

Olsen, who was 69, died from complications related to malignant mesothelioma, which erodes the protective lining around the lungs. He was diagnosed last year.

Along with Grier, Deacon Jones and Lamar Lundy, Olsen was part of the Los Angeles Rams' famous Fearsome Foursome in the 1960s, a unit widely considered one of the best defensive fronts in NFL history. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and was selected to play in 14 consecutive Pro Bowls, a string that began his rookie season of 1962.

Following his retirement, Olsen had a successful career as a football color commentator for NBC and also a television actor. He co-starred alongside Michael Landon on the series Little House on the Prairie and later was star of his own show, Father Murphy.

He also was heavily involved in charitable causes, including hosting telethons to benefit children.

"Merlin was always doing good work to help other people have a meaningful life," said Grier, who was told of Olsen's death by Elizabeth Jones, Deacon's wife. "He was always there for you, no matter what."

CBS Sportscaster Dick Enberg, who called NFL games on NBC with Olsen for 12 years in the 1970s and 80s, praised his former colleague.

"God doesn't create perfect men. But he came mighty close when he brought us Merlin Olsen," Enberg said in a statement released by CBS.

"He personified the Greek ideal of a 'sound mind in a sound body.' ... He was perhaps the brightest to ever play his position in the NFL. .... I seriously doubt that I shall ever meet another that will measure up to his complete character. He was every part of a gentle giant."

Gil Brandt, the Dallas Cowboys' player personnel director during Olsen's NFL career, said Thursday there has never been a better defensive tackle to play the game.

"We played them a lot but we also scrimmaged them a lot, and Merlin never took a play off, no matter what kind of game it was," Brandt said. "He obviously was one of the greatest players of all time. You can look at it like this — when he played in the 60s and 70s, he was on a par with the present-day player as far as speed, strength and skill."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement that Olsen "was a larger-than-life person, literally and figuratively, and leaves an enormously positive legacy."

Olsen was a consensus all-American his senior season at Utah State, and was a first-round draft pick, third overall, by the Rams.

In December, Utah State announced the field at Romney Stadium would be named 'Merlin Olsen field.'

Two members of the Fearsome Foursome remain alive. Lundy died in 2007 after a series of health problems.

This weekend is it, the Super Bowl and as we sit and watch two teams that probably mean nothing to us other than it is the last game of the year we'll be watching. But to make it a little more interesting, I'm sure you are following one or the other. So who is your choice? Saints or Colts.

As for me, I'll be going for the Saints. Main reason, good friend of mine resides in New Orleans and she rooted for our Rams when they made it in 1999. Got to return the favor.

Over His Head?

Week 11 has come and gone and chalk up another loss for the Rams. OK, most of us knew this was going to be rough, but Spags is not the first coach to inherit a team in trouble. The difference between he and those others is that at least some of them were able to show improvement by the end of the season. As our season ending is quickly approaching it looks more like a form of regression is beginning to overtake the team. It also seems that Spags may not only be in denial over this but he may also be in way over his head. Nice guy, true, but you could be the Pope, that's not going to help you turn a franchise around if you don't really have what it takes to shape a team. I'm beginning to wonder if Spags does have what it takes.

Let's see what old BeaverRam has to say about this weeks addition to our never ending losses.

Way to Go Jackson

With losing or not, Steven Jackson deserves kudos. Not just for his continued quality work for the team, win or lose, but for the fact he now has passed not only Marshall Faulk, but Eric Dickerson as well. Jackson now is the only Rams player in franchise history to have five straight 1000+ rushing seasons. From 3rd last week to surpassing both this week. Way to go Jackson!

Sure it was a loss, and sure we're still standing at 1 win. But what happened on Sunday against the Saints did prove one thing, that the team can play without embarrassing themselves and their fans. They proved that they truly can improve.

Wow We Won. But if we hadn't, we pretty much could claim an 0-16 record. It wasn't pretty that's for sure, the way we struggled to get those 17 points you would have thought the opponent was some undefeated team. But alas, it was nothing but our lowly counterparts the Lions.

You want to say or whatever excuse you want to make for this teams ineptitude, go for it, not going to change my mind on the coaching style. It's not working, IMHO.

The "Show Me" state has now become the "Show Me How to Lose" state! At the rate both the Rams and Chiefs are going I wouldn't be surprised to see Missouri became the first state with multiple teams go 0-32.

Very sad.

Well as some would like you think that the Rams are alone in the winless column, they're not. The Chiefs are struggling in the quagmire as successfully as we are. Not that this is any relief to us but it's nice to see that the AFC is equally represented.

Twelve straight losses and about half the team wasn't even involved in the first 10 losses. Go figure. You'd think we might win a game here or there with new blood. But then again there hasn't been any improvement on the offensive side of the ball. Looks like we're in for a long, long season.

And on a silver platter too! That's pretty much what you can probably expect from the "mob" in St. Louis, when it comes to Marc Bulger.

Enough is enough! He doesn't have it and they seriously need to be thinking of cutting ties with him at the end of this season.

You know what? I don't really care what the offense brings right now, if it's vanilla, it's vanilla.

If the defense can continue to improve like this, I can live with that, because you CAN win games on defense. The Rams have been proving that all preseason long.

The defense is my vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and whip cream with a cherry on top. And I can live with that.

Still a lot of work needs to be done with the rushing game. Still they allowed too many long spurts that gave the Bengals far too many opportunities to beat us.

10 Years

During the practice, the team announced the dates it will be wearing the throwback uniforms for two games this season. The first is October 11 against Minnesota and the second is December 20 against Houston. In both games, the Rams will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their win against the Titans in the Super Bowl.

Wow! It's been 10 long years since our last bout of "greatness". Bummer, kind of depressing to say the least.

Is fast approaching and we can officially put last year's dismal display behind us. Now is the time to start looking forward, believe for as long as we can that Spags and his staff is going to turn this team and organization around. And because of this, we are allowed to be filled with optimism regarding this upcoming season. All teams start at 0 wins at the beginning of the season. It's just how fast they get out of the starting gate and whether they can maintain that speed throughout the season.

Well it's pretty quiet right now, not much news coming out of St. Louis about our guys in blue and gold. And since we've not been able to see any of the newest members of the team and staff at work, there really isn't much we can say about that either.

So no one in St. Louis is interested in purchasing the Rams so that St. Louis fans won't lose their team. Don't know what to say there except don't take it out on Chip. He said from day one that he wasn't going to own the team forever, but would prefer to keep the team in St. Louis. If you don't have big time business person that's interested, you can't expect Chip to keeping holding onto something that's obviously too big for he and his sister to be involved with.

Yes, it would be a shame if St. Louis lost the Rams, but true fans don't care where their team goes, what state, what city. It simply doesn't matter. If you're truly a fan of your team your heart will go where they go.

Now it Begins

With the draft over, training camp is on it's way and it was a sad journey for a lot of Rams fans saying goodbye to Torry, Pace and Pisa. Torry was probably the saddest of them all. What a shame that the new regime would turn their backs on him, he had nothing to do with the defensive changes on the team so it's amazing how Torry didn't fit. Oh well, who knows what's going on in their heads and what their true plans are. I just hope they work.

Two Good Moves

Well Spags and company have done a couple of good things to put smiles on the faces of many in Rams Nation. Making sure that Bartell was retained and procuring the services of our new center Brown.

Jackson should be extremely happy with getting this guy since it seems he has a reputation of ripping open huge holes for his RB's! Let's hope he's as good as they claim he is. He's getting paid enough.
